StrongBack started 2020 with a fresh focus on our core activities after our successful second sharing of “Come On In” in February in Brixton. We created new parameters for our work with a focus on combining art forms in order to tell unheard stories in creative and inclusive ways. “Come On In: Life Journeys” was an invitation for people to pause and think about those who they pass everyday – and hear their voices. And we wanted to extend that invitation further.
Our proposed Autumn tour to share the new song-poems further afield was sadly cancelled, but never ones to fall in the face of adversity we regrouped and thought about the next steps.
The period of lockdown also gave us time to think about how we connect with you, our audience, our artists, our friends, our storytellers, and how we can build on that relationship. So this is not a random update but an introduction to “BackChat” our monthly blog! We will be using this platform to announce StrongBack and Arts and Culture news of the Caribbean and our friends. If that’s not enough SB for you you can also follow us on Twitter and on Instagram where no doubt we will also be shouting about all of the above. Between us we hope to share with you what we’ve been reading/watching/listening to for the month (every month) and we can’t wait to get all your recommendations back.
